MAN UTD 4 - West Ham 1: It’s One Step Closer!

May 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Cristiano Ronaldo United heroA superb United display on the lunch time kick-off against the Hammers bring Manchester United a win away to securing their back-to-back Premiership crown. United started brightly with no sign of fatigue from their European midweek tie with Ronaldo scoring the opening in less than 3 minutes. Cutting from the right corner, he skipped a few defenders before lashing home a deflected shot past Robert Green. It was 1-0 for United and we never looked back.

In a frantic 15 minutes or so, United later add the lead with another goal by Ronaldo following a superb curling cross from Hargreaves. Ronaldo’s break the offside trap and scored with his thigh. A few minutes later, Tevez scored a goal of the season contender with a thundering kick way outside the box to make the score 3-0. Hammers came back in a space of few minutes where Dean Ashton made it intersting with a highly skilled bicycle kick following Wes Brown’s failed heading clearance.

It was all United and we seemed to be cruising to a possibility of more goals to come before Nani out of his mind head-butted Lucas Neill where he was shown a red card after the referee consulted the linesman. It gave West Ham a little breather before the half, however after the break, United came back with posession football and Carrick put an icing on the cake with yet another deflected kick midway through the second half. Fletcher, who came in later, should’ve made it 5-1 but for the post to deny it.

FINAL SCORE: MAN UTD 4 Ronaldo (2), Tevez, Carrick - West Ham 1 (Ashton)
