Preview: Liverpool vs MAN UTD

September 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Following international break, United will travel to Anfield today for an early kick-off 12:45 lunch time fixture against the old nemesis, Liverpool.

Sir Alex will have a full squad returned to fitness except Ronaldo available for selection.  The return of Carrick will be crucial to control the flow and tempo from midfield with Scholes and Anderson available to support.

Dimitar BerbatovThe arrival of Dimitar Berbatov will surely ease the difficulties that United have been having the past few games in front of the goals with no predatory finishes from either Rooney or Tevez.

Rooney, coming off an awesome week with England crushing Croatia 4-1 at home, is expected to start upfront with possibly triangle offense along with Berbatov and Tevez.

Possible formation: MAN UTD: 4-3-1-2 (van der Sar, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Brown, Nani, Scholes, Carrick, Berbatov, Rooney, Tevez).

Liverpool is lucky to have both Gerrard and Torres fit just in time for this big clash, but I doubt their fitness is 100% for this game and Rafa Benitez just doesn’t have a good records against Ferguson.  Is it time it will change? NOT a chance.

Predictions: Liverpool 0 - MAN UTD 2
